Playing the Angel marks the eleventh studio release from the English electronic band Depeche Mode. Initially launched on October 17, 2005, by Mute Records in the UK, it followed with releases on Sire Records and Reprise Records in the United States the next day.
The album was accompanied by the Touring the Angel tour and spawned four singles: Precious, A Pain That I’m Used To, Suffer Well and John the Revelator Lilian. It achieved chart-topping success in over 10 countries and secured positions within the top 10 in both the UK and the US
