Nirvana – In Utero (30th Anniversary)

In Utero is Nirvana‘s third and final studio album, originally released on 21st September 1993. Produced by Steve Albini, it aimed for a raw and abrasive sound reminiscent of their pre-mainstream work. Despite Kurt Cobain describing it as “very impersonal,” the album delves into his personal struggles.

Recorded in two weeks at Pachyderm Studio, there were concerns about its release due to Albini’s sound. It achieved critical and commercial success, topping charts, earning platinum status, and selling 15 million copies globally.

The album’s impact persisted after Cobain’s tragic suicide in 1994. Notably, the single Pennyroyal Tea was posthumously released in 2014, reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles Sales chart.
