R.E.M. – Monster (25th Anniversary)
£24.49
Monster, R.E.M.‘s ninth studio album, released on 27 September 1994, marked a deliberate departure from their previous style. Featuring distorted guitars and straightforward lyrics, it included the hit single What’s the Frequency, Kenneth?“.
The album debuted at number one in the US and other countries, receiving positive reviews. Despite commercial success, the accompanying tour faced health issues. Nominated for Best Rock Album at the Grammy Awards, it lost to The Rolling Stone’s Voodoo Lounge. The subsequent album, New Adventures in Hi-Fi (1996), was largely recorded during the tour.
